Elopement ceremony at Otter Cliffs Acadia National Park

Otter Cliffs Elopement in Acadia National Park

The most rewarding part of being an elopement photographer is being invited into extremely intimate moments of a couple’s life and experiencing the love they have for each other in a space that is only for them. We had the privilege of being there for Ali and Dallen’s elopement at Otter Cliffs Acadia, hearing the words they truly wanted to share with one another. Getting Ready in Bar Harbor

Ali and Dallen started their morning getting ready separately surrounded by the friends and family they invited with them on their wedding day. Ali had her mom and grandmother help her get dressed and get her jewelry on and invited her friend to do her hair and makeup. Everything about their day was completely intentional from who they invited to who they hired for vendors.

First Look and Vows at Otter Point

After getting ready, Ali and Dallen headed down to Otter Point for their first look. The park was covered in a layer of fog, an Acadia specialty, clearing the park from a lot of the visitors and making what normally was a fairly busy part of the park into a completely private and utterly spectacular location.

Ali walked down the steps of the trail and met Dallen on the cliffs for the first look before sharing their vows with one another. I would be lying if I said I didn’t cry behind the camera listening to their vows. Ali and I had been emailing back and forth for 5 months leading up to their wedding day, so by this point, they felt like friends. You would think after bearing witness to so many weddings I would be numb to them at this point, but truly each couple is so different and their weddings so intentional, that I still am so moved by each one. (I still cry watching their wedding video)!

Portraits at Otter Cliffs and Cadillac Mountain

After their vows we decided to adventure around the nearly empty cliffs of the park, showing them some of our favorite spots. We ventured up Cadillac Mountain, hiking around the summit and exploring some of the different areas. There weren’t many views due to the fog, but the mountain was empty so we were free to explore wherever they wanted to go.

Sunset Ceremony on the Beach

After their “just us” time, we headed down to their ceremony location to meet their guests. Before the ceremony, Ali had a first look with her father before he walked her down the aisle. They decided to have their ceremony on the beach with their families and although the fog was heavy and obstructed the views of the ocean, the experience was unmatched. After the ceremony and family photos, Ali and Dallen decided to part from their guests again, to do a private first dance while the sun was setting. After their first dance, they headed out to meet their guests for dinner at a local restaurant in Bar Harbor to celebrate!
