Campgrounds in Acadia National Park

Acadia National Park has amazing campgrounds inside the park and outside! Depending on the size of your rig, what accommodations you're looking for, or how close you want to be to certain areas, a different campground will be better for you. Here is a list of my personal favorite campgrounds around Acadia National Park!

Just a PSA before we get into this, many campgrounds in Acadia National Park do not have showers. So if you’re visiting, it's important to find a place to clean off. My favorite place to shower when I visit is right outside of Black Woods Campground at Hot Showers (44.3143753, -68.2122368). This place is super clean, private, and fairly cheap. The cost is $3 for a 5-minute hot shower and each shower has an area for you to undress and get ready before hopping it. I can not recommend it enough. It has been a go-to spot every time I visit.

Now onto the campground recommendations:

Blackwoods Campground: $30 per night

Blackwoods is my personal favorite campground in Acadia. It is located in the park so it's super close to all of the iconic Acadia National Park locations. The majority of the sites in the campground are small and large tents. There are a few spots for RVs as well but it is mainly for tents. The campsite also has flush toilets, running water, dump stations, and fire rings. The reason this is one of my favorite campgrounds is because it has a trail that leads to out some stunning views of the iconic Acadia cliffs and the ocean.

Seawall Campground: $30 per night

This campground is also located in the park but on Southwest Harbor. It’s a bit further from the main portion of the park but still very close by to some amazing locations like Bass Harbor Headlight, Echo Lake, and Beech Mountain. This campground was not designed to accommodate large trailers and RVs so although there are campsites that can fit RVs up to 35 feet in length, it's not recommended. This campground also features flush toilets, running water, dump stations, picnic tables, and fire rings. No showers are available at the campsite but about a mile down the road, there is a place to pay for showers.

Mount Desert Campground: $30-$75 per night

This campground is located 15 minutes from the park. No trailers over 20 feet are allowed but it is a fantastic tenting campground. Located right on the water the campground has amazing views and many activities like the ability to rent a kayak right from the campground. The campground has bathrooms as well as free cold showers with the option to pay for an upgrade to hot.
